CASBI is comprised of two teams: The Laboratory for Cognitive Neuromodulation, headed by Dr. Nicholas Schiff, and The Ethics Policy Center, headed by Dr. Joseph Fins. The two groups are working together to better understand the medical and social impact and implications of severe brain injury on both the patients inflicted and their families, who are themselves seriously affected. This complete approach to the problem makes CASBI a comprehensive consortium that recognizes that severe brain injury is at a crossroads where neurology and neuroethics intersect. To ignore either half of the problem would be doing a disservice to the whole.
